(Jen and Me-- track out day)

Song: "I'm Movin On" by Rascal Flatts
Mood: Okay

I know it's been quite a while since my last post. There's been a lot going on and I just haven't found the time to blog.

First things first, I started the 2008-2009 school year on July 7th. I spent the whole week between the 07-08 year and the 08-09 year doing back to school stuff at work. As much as I worked, I still wasn't able to get everything done that I wanted/needed to get done.

Steve and I went to the Brad Paisley concert July 19th and had a great time. Burt's had tickets for their box seats and offered them and Steve jumped right on it! We were super close and had an excellent time as VIPs.

I am tracked out (whooo hoooo)! Steve and I made it to our 2nd anniversary. We celebrated by going out to dinner. Sadly, we didn't even watch our wedding DVD. It was only my 2nd day of teaching and I came home exhausted. We talked about doing something over my track out (which is now) but I don't know if we'll actually do anything. I'm just thankful to have Steve in my life and to come home to him each day.

I'm not feeling very chatty right now... (can you tell) so I am going to sign off for now. I will say that I did get to present two sessions to the teachers at my school for our staff development days. I was really honored to be asked to present and to know that I've only been there a year and I am respected. It's definitely a good feeling!

More on that later...
Until next time...

Music: "One Burbon, One Scotch, One Beer" by George Thorogood
Mood: Happy

Anywho-- Steve and I are off to have lunch at Tyler's Taproom (I am excited to try it) and then we're going to see You Don't Mess With the Zohan. Should be a fun movie and since it's so hot outside it'll be nice to be inside where it's cool.

I'll try to post again this weekend with more about the movie.
Until next time...

Song: "Fall For You" by Secondhand Serenade
Mood: Motivated

Well... my vacation is officially over. I can't really complain because I had a great three weeks and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute. I didn't have to go anywhere or do anything and it was refreshing. I can't say that I am ready to go back either.

There have been some issues at work with different personality types clashing. I had hoped that for the 2008-2009 school year there'd be some changes within my grade level. Basically, people moving to new grade levels and bringing in some new people to balance things out. Well, it's not going to happen. Basically, the same problems that we've had all year are going to continue next year. Katie is leaving (which I am so sad about) and the person coming into her place is a "good friend" of my principal. It's never a good sign when the person coming in is "good friends" with the boss. I think she might be a spy. LOL.

I went into work yesterday at 4:00 to set up my room. It was the first time that I had set foot in the building for three weeks. It was great!!! The longest that I've gone without having to go in for something.

Steve came in to help me and I have to say I am so lucky to have him. I could NOT have set up my room without his help. He's always there to help with the take down and set up. I am very lucky because I never see other husbands there to help their wives.

So my room is set up and I like how I changed it. It's a little different than usual and we'll see how it works. I took some pictures, so be sure to check out the website (tour our room) to see how it looks.

I am praying that I won't have to track out every track out. If the numbers are too high I'll have to move every quarter. I won't have a room to store my things, so I'll have to bring home a BUNCH of books. It'll be really upsetting because my kids really love having so many books to choose from.

Anyway, I'm still waiting for the results of the writing test that we took in March. I have six weeks left in this school year and then we start all over again. Not sure how that's going to work... I am so used to having a summer between classes. It'll be so weird to go from my kids that are basically 5th graders to new 4th graders that are still practically 3rd graders.

I'll keep you posted on how it all goes. Until next time...

Song: "The Captain" by Casey Chambers
Mood: Tired

Well... Open House went well. I made a Power Point last weekend to use and I'm so glad I did! I added some notes to the bottom and then I'm going to email it to the parents. Some were not able to attend because it was the night for all the end-of-season swim banquets. I still had a pretty good turn-out though. All the parents were really nice and had great questions. It was a lot easier than I had expected.

I am really excited to have three weeks off soon!! I feel like there's so much to get done around here (our house)!! I absolutely HAVE to get my books put into my computer and then organized. I am going to start doing novel studies when we track back in in August. I plan on going into school the first week that I'm off, just to get some extra work done. I feel like I have a better idea of what I'm doing and I don't feel so stressed anymore. Oddly enough I have found that I'm not the only that doesn't really know what I'm doing. No one does really, so it's reassuring!!

Last Monday M.E. came to me and told me that she had gone to get her nails done and told the person about me. She gave me the business card and told me to call and make an appointment with Jennifer. As you all know, I spent about four hours removing my acrylic nails and ended up with sore and disgusting looking nails. So on one hand I was eager to get nails back on, but then apprehensive about having them look like they did before.

So anyway, I went on Friday and was so glad I did! I now have gel nails and they look absolutely incredible! I've never had gel, but my mom has and she's had hers for more than 12 years!!! I am so happy that I found someone great that I can go to for my nails!! On the flip side, Steve called my hair girl to ask about getting in to get his hair cut and was told that she no longer works there. So much for that... now the quest is on to find someone good to do my hair. I'm due for a touch-up next week.

Speaking of next week... we have the Kenny Concert a week from Friday! I am so excited I can't wait!!! We're just hoping that there are a bunch of people coming with him to NC like there are to Michigan.

Well... enough from me for now. I'll be writing again sometime soon.
Until next time...
