Day 313 (November 9th, 2011)

November 9th, 2010

November 9th, 2011

What a long day!!

I'm posting this today (11-10-11) because we got home too late last night to post. I'm going to post a separate entry with pictures of our house, but yesterday we went to the house on our way back to NC and saw it one more time.

We got up and went down for breakfast and then Steve left for work while Gus and I played. He was tired from his day at the zoo and lack of a long nap, so when 10:00 rolled around, he went down for a nap without a fight. It freed me up to pack and get the room back to normal.

Steve got back to the hotel around 11:45 and we got Gus up, loaded him and the stuff in the car, and checked out of the hotel. We drove to Johns Creek and had lunch in the car on the way to the house.

The home inspection was taking place, so we went inside and took pictures and then we were on the road by 3:30.

Gus loved the trampoline!! We need a safety fence before he can go on it again!

We stopped at Cracker Barrel for dinner and then we arrived here around 10:00. We unpacked the car and put Gus to bed and then we went to bed.

When we walked in the house, the smell of cat poo hit us... Steve went into the laundry room (where their boxes are) and noticed that their boxes had not been cleaned. Their water was empty and they were out of food. I instantly got pissed because our neighbors (their two boys) were supposed to be taking care of the cats for us. There were three bags off to the side, so out of the six days that we were gone, they only came three. Totally pissed me off...

Here are pictures from a year ago:

:-)
PS- The good news that I had wanted to share before, is that A&W are now parents!! They got the call that a bm wanted them to parent her baby boy (due next week), and they got the call Tuesday that he was born and could come see him!! They brought him home from the hospital today!! I'm so happy for them!!!

Day 312

Today was a great day. God is so good and our morning started with wonderful news from a good friend. We are still praying and thinking of them, but so thrilled for their news and thankful that they shared with us!

I decided to be brave and head to the zoo with the Atlanta Area Mommies.

We had to stop at W50 to drop off Steve's lunch and I had to sign our counter offer on the house.

Gus and I made it to the zoo and got in for 1/2 price thanks to our NC Zoo membership. Gus was free.

I stood at the flamingos waiting for others and a lady with a baby and an almost three-year-old asked if I was, by any chance, waiting for a group. I said I was and she asked if it was AAM... I said it was and we introduced ourselves to each other.

Soon after many others arrived and we set off to see the zoo.

It's a smaller zoo, but I loved it. I prefer everything close as opposed to the GIANT five mile zoo in NC.

We spent the morning talking and getting to know others- it was great. I'm really glad that we went!!

Here are some pics from the drive to and from, and then at the zoo (I used my good camera so I don't have any animal pics).

We left the zoo at 1:45 and Gus was sleeping by 2:00. I decided to drive around to let him sleep.

We got back to the hotel and played until Steve got home. Then we went down for dinner.

Then tonight, Rick called to let us know that the offer that we made this morning was accepted!! Yahoo!!! The house is ours!!

So included in the house are the following items:
- fridge upstairs
- fridge in basement
- baby gates on doorway and stairs
- basement furniture (two couches, two chairs and a table)
- pool table/ping pong table and accessories
- playset in the yard
- trampoline in yard
- swing hanging from the deck

We decided to head home tomorrow (Yay!!) so we'll stop by the house on our way out and take more pictures and take notes for moving purposes. I'm so excited!!

Our closing date is December 8th and we'll plan on driving down that weekend. Our new address will be 115 Windview Place. Johns Creek, GA (not sure of the zip yet).

I'm so incredibly excited!! More good news should come tomorrow as well... It's been a GREAT day!!

Goodnight!

Day 311

Today was a pretty good day. We put in our official offer on the house and just got off the phone with our realtor. They gave a counter offer that we are accepting with the exception of one thing.

If they accept (Steve thinks they will), we can proceed with the home inspection and set a date for closing. Right now, they proposed December 8th.

We will hopefully be in our new house well before Christmas!!

Here are some pictures from our day:

We were supposed to go to the zoo tomorrow, but the lady that I was supposed to go with had to cancel this afternoon. Not sure what we'll do tomorrow.

We are thinking about coming home on Wednesday... We'll see.

I'm going to bed...

Day 310

I hate the time change!!

Gus was up at 6... But due to the time change, it was 5! It made for a LONG day.

We has breakfast and then Rick called and we headed out to start day two of the house shopping trip.

The first house today was a foreclosed home and came "as is." That means anything wrong with it won't be fixed and it won't be cleaned up or anything prior to our moving in. This put up a red flag right away with me.

There were a few things I'd want changed and fixed and that wasn't going to happen. NEXT...

The next house was one that I found and it was a custom built home, had a great layout and was in Roswell.

The house was nice... Interesting even, but not a house for us. NEXT!!

The third house was the house that was my #1 pick going into this weekend. I was super excited to see it.

It.
Was.
A.
Dud.

The house was a mess, slightly dirty, and in need of a lot of repairs. I was so disappointed.

Then we went to a house in Kennesaw that was VERY nice, but Kennesaw would be a 44 minute drive for Steve, the area wasn't as nice as Alpharetta or Johns Creek. Steve would have had to take 75 to work, which isn't something he wanted to do.

We went to lunch at this cute little diner that had a train that went around (suspended from the ceiling). Gus LOVED it!!!

We weren't feeling hopeful with only two houses left to see.

We headed to Marietta and saw another house with a pool.

We loved it!!! It had a walk in pantry, huge open living room, gorgeous kitchen, and a nice basement. The pool was nice, it had an extended lot behind the pool and it was nice.

The last house of the day was on Snug Harbor. Such a cute house-- we both fell in love.

This house had a screened porch that had a tv mounted outside... A nice yard, an awesome basement, and was nicely painted.

We got back to the hotel and each did a break down of features and then talked about our findings.

Our top four were Amberleigh and Windview from yesterday, and then Snug Harbor and Renford from today.

Strangely enough, Renford and Amberleigh but had 39/70 points... And then Snug Harbor had 51/70 and Windview had 52/70.

We let Ruck know that we wanted to make an offer on Windview and he's coming over tomorrow morning to get the paperwork together.

I'm excited and hoping that they accept. We're asking for a few things... The kitchen table (fits perfectly in the kitchen and matches the cabinets), the tv that's custom mounted on the wall, there's a HUGE painting on the wall that we're asking for, all the furniture in the basement, and the refrigerators (one upstairs and one downstairs). Also the play set and trampoline, and lastly, the pool table.

Wish us luck that they accept!!

We came back, Gus napped and Steve went to work to drop off his monitor and some pictures that I brought for him.

We had Chinese for dinner and watched the Patriots lose (Yahooooo)!!

I'll post again tomorrow!! Goodnight!!
