Day 347

December 13th, 2010

December 13th, 2011

I finally had a chance to take Gus's 19 month pictures!! I figure two days isn't too bad and at least I got them taken close to his actual month marker.

This morning Steve got to experience his first taste of Atlanta traffic. He left for work at 6:45 and it took him an hour (oi vey!). Needless to say, he wasn't happy about the commute time. People in the office told him that there were two accidents this morning and it's usually not that bad. He'll try again tomorrow and hope that it's better.

Gus and I got up and had breakfast, and while he ate I decided to clean up the living room. It wasn't too long and I decided to take a break and head to Kroger to do our weekly shopping. Considering that all our frozen stuff was given away (we couldn't bring it with us), I didn't do too badly today. I miss Wal-Mart's prices though. Kroger wasn't awful and I do like that it's less than a 1/2 mile from our house and there was NO line to wait in. :-)

Looks much better!

RUGHT RO RAGGY!!!

We got our grocery shopping done and then I decided to treat us to Burger King for our once a week fast-food. I had just enough time to get us back home, unpack the car, put away the groceries and eat, before Graciela arrived. Who on Earth is Graciela you ask? She's a cleaning lady that someone on Atlanta Area Mommies recommended.

She toured the house and then when she was done, she gave me some quotes for once a week, every two weeks, and every three weeks for cleaning. She comes with three other people, they bring all the supplies and can get all three levels of the house clean in less than two hours! I thanked her for coming over and then texted Steve her info. We agreed that the price was fair and I set up our schedule with her! She'll be starting on Tuesday, January 10th and will come every other Tuesday at 8:30. It's great!

After she left, I took Gus upstairs for his nap. He slept from 12:30-4:30 today!!! I couldn't believe that he slept for four hours! While he napped, I worked on the kitchen. I got it done!!

Gus woke up and he came downstairs and watched Mickey. I put his 19 month picky sticky on him and took some pictures:

Steve texted me two pictures of the traffic that he was sitting in:

It took him an hour to get home. He was exhausted when he walked in the door, but amazed at how AWESOME the kitchen looked. :-)

I made dinner for the first time in our kitchen! I made Hobo Packets and some Pasta-Roni. Dinner was delicious and Steve loaded the dishwasher while I cleaned off the table.

Tonight was bath night, so we headed up and put Gus in the tub. He loved it (as usual) and then we read a story and put him to bed!

So today is the one year anniversary of the first time that Gus and Grace played together. I had been pretty sad today with Steve going back to work, being here with Gus and no friends to see, and feeling extremely overwhelmed with the amount of unpacking before me. I feel like I'm doing it all myself and it's stressing me out. I just want it all done but it's taking forever and a day to accomplish.

Anyway, so I had been really sad and then in the mail came an orange Shutterfly package. I wasn't expecting anything and I seriously thought and thought about what I could have ordered that I forgot about. When I opened the package, I burst into tears.

Kristen made a book of pictures of Gus and Grace. It says G2 on the cover and it's absolutely incredible. I opened it and couldn't stop crying. I was honestly overwhelmed and sad and happy at the same time. I feel so blessed to have met her and Grace, and we got to be such great friends through our playdates. Gus loves Grace and she really was his first best friend.

It was so very thoughtful and really meant a lot to me that she took the time to create such a great gift for us. I showed it to Steve and he agreed that it's so very wonderful. So to honor this first anniversary of them meeting, here are pictures from that first playdate where G2 came to be:

Now I'm sad again just looking at these pictures. I do know that I'll see them again, Kristen's parents are only two hours from here... so when she travels to see them, we're going to meet up. :-)

See ya tomorrow...

Day 346

December 12th, 2010
December 12th, 2011

I'm finally blogging from my computer!! Our AT&T guy came today to get us set up with U-Verse and then the DirecTV guy came and hooked up our dish. We're back on track!

Today I was able to get more of our bedroom done... not completely finished though. I had about 10% motivation all day and I'm just tired. I worked on our closet and master bathroom and then our bedroom and more of the kitchen. We're still missing our pans and some things from the pantry... I'm still looking for the box with Gus's night-light and lamp shade, though we did find the box with the rest of his clothes. We also found the box with the rest of his bathroom stuff, but then I realized that the previous owners took the damn shower rods! So random.

Tomorrow Steve goes back to work and has his first "real" day. He's got a day full of meeting and trainings and it's not scheduled to end until 6:00! That means he won't be home until 6:30-7:00... I think we're moving Gus's bedtime back a bit. Not only will it give Steve more time with him at night, but I should get to sleep until 7:45, which would be great. He's been going down at 8:15 these last few days (not on purpose) and sleeping until after 8.

We have a lady coming tomorrow to look at the house to give me a quote for how much it'd be for her to clean the house for us. I think I'm just looking for someone to vacuum, dust, and clean the bathrooms and kitchen. I don't need windows, floor-boards, waxing... so we'll what she says. She's coming at noon.

We'll probably head out to do some grocery shopping in the morning, come home and have lunch and then I'll put him down for his nap before our lady comes. Hopefully he'll sleep for a while and I can get more unpacking done. I plan on doing a lot in the basement this week, and have the entire house unpacked by the end of this weekend.

We got the tree up and I started decorating but my feet hurt too much to continue. I'll finish tomorrow.

We went out for Mexican tonight (no groceries for dinner yet). The place is literally around the corner and wasn't awful. I HATE their salsa, but I had one of the best tacos that I've ever had in my life. So we'll see. :)

I did meet our neighbor today. Her name is Patty and she was letting her dog out while I was out with Ned and Elphie. I didn't see her, but she and I chatted over the fence (lol). She was friendly and said she wanted to welcome us to the neighborhood. :-)  I would have forgotten her name (I'm terrible with names) but when I told Steve that I talked to her (I had just come inside and her name was fresh on my mind), he said, "Patty melt is our neighbor." It stuck.

Here are some pictures from today:
This morning at breakfast
(Gus refused to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner today- he had some food but nothing substantial. I'm not sure what the deal is... some days he eats like he's starving and others, he doesn't want to eat at all!)

At dinner... he chewed on the straw all night instead of eating

Day 345

Gus is 19 months today!! It's the first time that I wasn't able to get pictures of him with his sticker for him 19 months!! I'll take some tomorrow!

What.
A.
Day!

We got up around 7:00 and pretty much got started unpacking right away.

We worked separately... Me in the kitchen and Steve in the master. The unpacking was awful. Five sheets of paper wrapped a single small coffee mug. It was torture and I made a giant, overwhelming pile of boxes and paper.

Steve moved into the office to hook up our computers and I went up and unpacked the rest of Gus's room and his bathroom.

Then I came down and worked on the dining room for a bit.

At 11, I put Gus down for his nap and came down and Steve and I worked together on the kitchen and rest of the dining room.

Gus ended up sleeping until 3:00!! Gotta love a four hour nap!! We were able to get the kitchen, dining room, and office done!!! I'm missing a box from
Gus's room, his bathroom, the stuff from our pantry, our pans, and I think that's it for now.

After Gus got up and we finished unpacking, we took showers and headed to Home Depot.

Then we headed to a place called Taco Mex for dinner. I had the best fish-n-chips! It's a sportsy-type place with TVs all over. We watched the Denver game... Very exciting to see them tie with a 59 foot field goal!!

After dinner we headed to Target to get things that we couldn't find at Home Despot.

We're in bed for the night- totally exhausted and sore. I'm praying that I can move tomorrow! I'm unpacking the living room, decorating the tree, and unpacking our bedroom and bathroom.

See you tomorrow!
