Song: "Into the Ocean"- Blue October
Mood: Ho-Hum

Today is Sunday... we slept in and it was fantastic. I actually slept in yesterday and today. I was sorta shocked that I was able to sleep past 7:30am... usually on the weekend (when I can actually sleep in) I wake up super early. Not this weekend though!

Last time I posted was last Saturday. From then to now there have been a few changes... not many, but a few worth mentioning.

I found out that I'm safe in 5th grade. There are going to be some changes in the fall (Granholm cut $34 per-pupil) but I'm going to still be teaching 5th grade (99% certain at this point). They're going to be cutting various sections of the different grades, and next year I'll most likely have more than 30 students in my class... but I was told that I'll have a parapro in my room again. I'm hoping that I get to work with Charlotte again.

I also found out that one of my least-favorite people that I work with will most-likely be leaving my building. She doesn't have a position to fill so she'll be moving to another building that has an opening. The good news is that if she ever wants to come back to my building, she will have to interview, and I can pretty much guarntee that NO ONE will hire her back into my building.

On Sunday we went to Aimee and Matt's to see Lucas. He's so tiny and cute! It definitely makes me eager to start a family, but all in due-time. It was good to see Aimee... she looks great! You can't even tell that she was pregnant.

My Aunt had a birthday on Monday and then my dad turned 60 on Tuesday. He wasn't happy about it. We went to Outback last night with Scott and Fr. Terry to celebrate dad's birthday. I had fun... but we were crammed into a booth (6 people in one booth). Dinner and dessert was super tasty... :)

Thursday I had parent-teacher conferences for the spring. They went really well. I only had one no-show. I was able to come home at 7 instead of staying until 7:30 as I was told.

Friday we had a staff development day... it was AWFUL!!! It ranks up there with the Craft training that we had last year. This was just as bad... she was talking to us about Gifted Students in the regular education classroom. Yeah yeah yeah... that's great when you only have 20-25 kids but next year we're going to have 30+ kids... I'll be lucky to manage them and accomodate all of them, but to add any gifted kids on top of that... yeah right.

So that takes us to now. Did I mention that I got my hair done on Wednesday? I went to the person that does like a TON of people in my school. Her name is Jamie and she was awesome! My hair looks so cute!! She told me about some different products that I can use (she has curly hair too) and I went online last night and ordered some stuff. The cool thing is that the website that I got my Catwalk products from saves 40% off the suggested retail price. I got some great products and it wasn't too expensive!!

I got another letter from one of my soldiers. It was such a surprise to get it! He's one of the guys that we sent a package to. Anyway-- it got me remotivated and over spring break we're going to send out some more.

So I found out last night that Scott is getting married on Sunday. One week from today... however, they're not exchanging rings... she's not taking his last name... they're not going to live together. He views it as a business transaction. Anyway, they're getting married at the JP and Steve and I are going. It churns my stomach to actually think of this happening... but it's out of my control and there's nothing I can do or say about it.

Alright... until next time!

Song: "Put Your Records On"- Corinne Bailey Rae
Mood: Happy

The last time I wrote it was almost two weeks ago. I do appologize for not posting sooner. I do have a valid reason though...

On Tuesday, March 6th (our 3rd anniversary of our first date) I was walking (at lunchtime) to the back wall in my room to staple someone's paper to the back wall. As I was walking past one of the desks, my right pant leg got caught on the desk (there's a missing piece on the desk and gives it a sharp edge) and I ended up ripping my favorite jeans and tripping and falling flat on my face.

I immediately felt like I was going to pass out. Charlotte and Michelle had just walked in from taking the kids to lunch and they asked if I was okay. I explained what happened and Charlotte called Kitty (school nurse) and I sat down and elevated my foot. This is the same ankle that I had surgery on back when I was 15. The smallest thing makes me sprain it, so it wasn't the first time since I was 15 that I've hurt it.

Kitty came down with some ice and a wrap and wrapped up my ankle. It was throbbing and really hurt. Michelle called Daryl's office to ask if they could get me in, they said 3pm was the soonest, so she made the appointment for me. Then she called Steve and he said that he'd be leaving work shortly to come home.

Michelle drove me home and I left Cleveland back at school. Steve and I went to Daryl's and he ended up giving me a shot (Cortozone) that hurt really bad... and then he wrapped my ankle in a cast. We stopped on the way home to get some crutches. Michelle brought my car to me (which was very nice of her) and then she said she'd pick me up to take me to school.

I was on crutches from Tuesday through Sunday. I wasn't able to drive all week. We had a field trip with our reading buddies on Thursday (we went bowling) and Michelle was allowed to drive me in her car (I couldn't get on the bus). When she brought me home on Thursday, Steve said that he was going to work from home on Friday. I told Michelle that I wasn't going to go to work on Friday and said that she could have the day off if she wanted.

On Friday Steve and I met Michelle and her roommate Jenn at O'Charlie's for lunch. It was sooooo good! Michelle came back home with us and we watched the Patriot and just talked. Her roommate came and got her after we were done watching the movie.

We had Main Dish on the 10th. I wasn't able to do much, as I was on crutches. So I finished my book (Dear John by Nicholas Sparks) and just relaxed on the couch while Steve made everything. Saturday night we just hung out at home and watched some movies.

This last week was more of the same as last week. Monday and Tuesday was beautiful... in the 70's on Monday and in the 60's on Tuesday. It was a big tease though... it was back to cold and snow on Wedensday and Thursday.

Wednesday I went back to Daryl's and he took my cast off and I am walking normal again. My ankle still kind of hurts though. I think maybe after a week it'll start to feel better.

Yesterday there was a ton of drama at work. There are some MAJOR changes coming for the next year... and I'm a little anxious to see what happens. They said that there's a chance that many people will be displaced... and laid-off. I pray that I'm not going to have to worry about it... I've got 6.5 years of senority so hopefully it'll keep me safe. There's rumors that they're closing one of the schools... and those kids and teachers will be randomly placed throughout the district. The teachers all have more senority than me... so who knows what's going to happen.

Dave called me last night. We talked for about 45 minutes or so, and it was nice to chat with him. He's doing detective stuff right now (which I think is totally cool) and he's hoping to move to Gangs soon. I think it's scary that he's going to work on the gang unit, but he said he thinks it's going to be fun and he's really excited about it. I don't think I could do his job.

Emily at work is pregnant. So Mike's wife Jodi is pregnant (due in July)... Kylie is pregnant (due in August)... and now Emily is pregnant (due in November). That's 3/4 members of my 5th grade team. That means that if I get pregnant (and hopefully it'll happen in the next few months)... all of the 5th grade team will be having babies.

Today is St. Patty's Day. We're going to the Mitchell's for a bit today. I guess we're going to be the only people there... which does not make for a lot of fun. We haven't been to their place in a while so we need to just go. Ned can't come with us (which bugs me) so we are not staying the night.

I need to go shower and start getting ready to leave. Until next time...

Song: "Say It Right"- Nelly Fertado (I love this song!!!)
Mood: Tired

Mid-Winter Break 2007 is officially over. I'm not too upset about it though. I'm looking forward to going back to work. Michelle is taking over teaching for the next two weeks (maybe even three) so I'm eager to watch her!!

I went to the dentist on Thursday... it was not a good visit. He didn't give me gas prior to giving me the shot... and it hurt really bad. My entire mouth hurt after the shot. It took about 5 minutes before the shot numbed me that way it's supposed to. Anyway- he filled three more cavities. Making a total of 6 and I still have at least four more to go. The two visits this last week came to more than $500 and that's with dental insurance. Good insurance at that!!

We went to dinner on Thursday night to celebrate mom and dad's 32nd anniversary. We went to Steak & Ale and it was very good. I'm still partial to Outback for a good filet... but that's just me. I think Steve feels the same way. Outback is so much more affordable than Steak & Ale!!

Friday I was supposed to go shopping with Michelle, but it didn't happen (still not sure why) so I just stayed home and cleaned and started some laundry.

Saturday we made breakfast (I made the eggs and toast and Steve cooked up some bacon) and then we watched Employee of the Month (with Dane Cook and Jessica Simpson). It was pretty good. We watched Flags of Our Fathers also, and it was very good. Kinda hard to follow at times, but a pretty good movie.

After watching movies, we went to Office Depot and then drove to Bills hotdogs for some root beer and a hotdog for lunch. Then we went to Borders (in Ann Arbor) to see about getting me a new journal, since my old one is full. They didn't have anything, so we went to Old Navy to see if they had any pants for Steve... again, nothing. Then we drove to DSW (my favorite store) and we went hog-wild!! I got two pairs of cute shoes, one pair brown and the other black (identical style) and then a cute pair of Rocket Dogs that I love love love!! Steve got another pair of tennis shoes (identical to the ones he already has) and then two pairs of brown dress shoes. After DSW we went to Marshall's to see about some pants... such a dirty store. I felt like I needed a shower after being in there!!

Lastly, we went to Kroger to get some groceries. I decided that I wanted to get ripped Saturday night, so we got all the things I'd need to get good and drunk. Steve promised that he'd drink with me, but he didn't want to get drunk and hung-over.

We came home and had dinner (ribs that weren't so good) and then I started drinking, but Steve felt sick and he didn't drink with me. It's a waste to get drunk alone... so I went to bed after only one drink. Oh well... there's always St. Patty's to get drunk right?

Today is Dave's birthday. Mom and dad are out there with him and Heather and the kids. I'm jealous... but oh well. I don't have the money to go out there for a while. Anyway, he's 36 today. I called early to wish him a happy birthday, but I got the voice mail. They must be somewhere having some fun.

I have come to the conclusion that I'm 100% ready to have a family. I don't really want the whole 9 months of being pregnant thing... but I most definitely want to be a mom. Steve said that he doesn't want to even think about starting a family until June/July/August/September/October. It's all about timing and planning... if I get pregnant during those months, I'll have the baby in the spring and then not have to go back to work and have the summer with the baby. It makes sense... but I'm ready now.

Oh well... I'm going to go to bed. Tomorrow will be here soon enough and I'm not used to doing anything productive with my days!! I've got the 2nd session of the Art Club starting tomorrow. Should be fun!!

Until next time...

Song: "Gonna Get There"- Dierks Bentley
Mood: Apprehensive

Well... Aimee had her baby!! Tuesday at 5:07, Lucas Michael Kuhn entered the world via c-section. Aimee didn't get to hold him right away, but she did get some time with him after they put her back together. She only had about an hour and a half with him, but it's better than nothing right? They ended up taking him to another hospital because he was breathing to quickly. It was excruciating for her to watch them take her baby... but she's out of the hospital today and over with him today.

I went to the dentist on Monday for my cleaning. They asked if I could come back again this week to get some cavities taken care of. I went in yesterday (Wednesday) at 3:00 and they filled three cavities. They took pictures of my teeth before and then after they filled them and it was incredible. I am going back today (yuck) at 12:50 for more fillings. Steve bought us a new toothbrush on Monday after my appointment. We're using a Sonicare with a timer and a bunch of other cool features. I've been using that and his Waterpic each time I brush. Hopefully when I go back in June they'll see a HUGE difference in my teeth and gums.

This has been a pretty nice break. I'm looking forward to going back to work though. The weather is crappy so it's not like I can go out and do anything fun. I'm kinda stuck here at home, and been on the computer or watching movies. I'm not complaining, but I'm more excited for Spring Break.

I went to Steve's work yesterday and we went and had lunch together. We went and got Thai (sooooo good) and then came back and I hung out with him for a little bit. We bought a bunch of baby stuff from the lady at the credit union at FM, so I picked it up and brought it home. We got three car seats, a crib, a matress, a stroller and then Classic Winnie the Pooh bedding, and other room decor. It was an amazing deal and we thought we'd be stupid to pass it up. We're not pregnant or anything yet, but we've got the stuff so when it does happen, we're somewhat ready. It was like $260 for all of it and just an outstaning deal.

March is such a great month. We have so many birthdays and anniversaries in March!! On the 4th my brother Dave turns 36 and then Monday the 5th is my parents 32nd Anniversary. Tuesday the 6th is the 3 year mark that Steve and I have been together. Thursday the 8th is my sister-in-law Heather's birthday and she'll be 35. Then we go to the 19th and that's my Aunt Margie's birthday and then the 20th is my Dad's 60th birthday!!

I'm getting hungry so I'm going to go eat and get ready for the dentist appointment. I don't have to go back until April 5th.

:)

Music: "Someday" by Glass Tiger
Mood: Nervous and apprehensive

Well I am officially on Mid-Winter break as of tomorrow. You'd think I'd be happy right now because I get to sleep in tomorrow... but no, I don't actually get to sleep in. I have a 9am dentist appointment. I know that there are some things that we (as adults) just have to do, but I absolutely HATE HATE HATE going to the dentist. I get this sick feeling in the pit of my stomach and it doesn't go away until I'm walking out of there after my appointment. I'm not sure exactly why I hate it so much, but I do and I have to go tomorrow and I'm very unhappy about it. So unhappy in fact, my entire day today has been awful because all I have done is think about my appointment and freak out about it.

Anyway... last night we had our February Junior Circle event at Lucky's in Novi. The turn out was incredible. We had 14 people come to the event, which is the biggest that we've EVER had!! We got to Lucky's at 6:15 and waited until 7:15 for a table to open. They don't take reservations and it's first come, first served (which sucks when you've got a big group). We ended up going to Hooters for dinner and coming back to Lucky's for games after. Hooters was an experience. It had an odd smell when we first walked in... and it was rather comical to see the girls in their get-ups. The food... left a lot to be desired. I had crab legs which were good, but took me more than an hour to eat.

We had fun at Lucky's and only spent $20 doing so. We had free Coke because Steve said he was the DD and they give the DD free soda. We went to the toy counter and cashed in our 658 tickets and we got some candy, a keychain, a high-bounce ball and some other junk. All in all it was a great time.

Aimee could go into labor at any given moment. I'm super excited and hope it's sometime this week!! She wants to get through Tuesday (she's got her long-term sub coming in) and then she said she could have him. I hope it's soon!!

Until next time...
