Michigan :: Day 5 :: Russell Island

 

July 7th, 2015

We had GORGEOUS weather for our entire trip... with the exception of the one day that we needed awesome weather. We headed to Russell Island to meet up with Claire and her family and we hoped we'd have a nice day, but it pretty much rained the entire time we were there.

It took us a little over an hour to reach the parking lot across the street from the ferry and we were able to see Claire's brother Zak at the dock and spent some time chatting with him before boarding the ferry.

Once on the island, Claire and Ray wee there to greet us with golf carts that would take us to Claire's Aunt Sharon's house. We spent the day inside (mostly) and the boys had a great time with their Grammy, Grampy, Claire, her boyfriend Ray, and Uncle Zak. Sharon's daughter, Olivia was there too and it was so great to see her!

 

Gus got some awesome birthday gifts from his side of our family and they were Paw Patrol themed!

We had lunch and then decided to head outside for a bit. Claire and Ray and Zak decided to go swimming in the river, so we followed them down to the dock and watched them for a bit.

Claire's grandma came for a bit and we got to see her and meet Peggi's brother Erik. We had a nice visit with them and then it was time to head off to catch the ferry.

We had a great visit with Gus's side of our family. It's always nice to see them and watch them connect with Gus. It's always too short a visit, but I'm glad we are able to see them and get pictures of them with Gus.

Michigan :: Day 2- Time with Claire

We woke up on the 4th and were exited for the day that we had planned. Gus's birth mom, Claire, was going to be coming to the hotel to meet us for some swimming. We had breakfast and then soon after, Claire arrived and we headed to the pool!

After about an hour of swimming, we decided to head back to the room and then head out for something to eat. We decided to check out the mall and let the boys play at the soft play area and grab something in the food court.

The soft play area was a big hit, but the food court left a lot to be desired. They only had a Subway, so we decided to head to Max n' Erma's for lunch.

We had a great lunch and then it was time to say goodbye to Claire. Fortunately, we had plans to see her and her family later during the week, but we wanted to have some time with just her, since we knew we wouldn't get that at our big visit with her family.
