Michigan :: Day 5 :: Pool Party With Cousins

July 7th, 2015

After we had dinner at Buddy's, we headed back to our hotel and everyone went swimming one last time together. Gus and Hugh loved spending time with their Uncle Scott and Gus particularly enjoyed playing shark with him.

Steve enjoyed jumping in and making as big a splash as possible and getting everyone soaked each time he cannonballed. :D

That lip!!

Uncle Scott was a shark

This was the best visit home that I've ever had. It was just so nice to spend time with my family and really awesome to watch my kids playing with their Michigan cousins. I didn't get to spend as much time with my parents, and for that I'm sad, but overall it was a wonderful trip in Michigan!!

Michigan :: Day 5 :: Dinner at Buddy's

July 7th, 2015

Whenever we go home, we have a few places that we like to go because we can't get it here in Georgia. Our favorites include, Mickey's/Dairy Dan, Ram's Horn, Big Boy (Steve HATES Big Boy but I love it), Olga's, Pizza Papilis, Mongolian BBQ, and Buddy's Pizza.

When Gus was Baptized, we had his luncheon at Buddy's after, and have always made it a priority to get to Buddy's at least once each time we are in the Mitten.

After we left the island, we met Scott's family and my parents at Buddy's for dinner. We had to leave Wednesday morning, so we knew this would be our last dinner together and our last time to eat at Buddy's.

It was delicious.
Buddy's serves the classic "Michigan Square Deep Dish" and their sauce is out of this world!

Gus was excited to sit next to Lily for dinner

Now I'm hungry for Buddy's!!!

Michigan :: Day 5 :: Russell Island

July 7th, 2015

We had GORGEOUS weather for our entire trip... with the exception of the one day that we needed awesome weather. We headed to Russell Island to meet up with Claire and her family and we hoped we'd have a nice day, but it pretty much rained the entire time we were there.

Detroit off in the distance

It took us a little over an hour to reach the parking lot across the street from the ferry and we were able to see Claire's brother Zak at the dock and spent some time chatting with him before boarding the ferry.

Once on the island, Claire and Ray wee there to greet us with golf carts that would take us to Claire's Aunt Sharon's house. We spent the day inside (mostly) and the boys had a great time with their Grammy, Grampy, Claire, her boyfriend Ray, and Uncle Zak. Sharon's daughter, Olivia was there too and it was so great to see her!

Gus got some awesome birthday gifts from his side of our family and they were Paw Patrol themed!

We had lunch and then decided to head outside for a bit. Claire and Ray and Zak decided to go swimming in the river, so we followed them down to the dock and watched them for a bit.

Gigantic tanker!

Claire jumped from the highest diving board!! Gus was so proud of her!

It was pouring!!!

Claire's grandma came for a bit and we got to see her and meet Peggi's brother Erik. We had a nice visit with them and then it was time to head off to catch the ferry.

We had a great visit with Gus's side of our family. It's always nice to see them and watch them connect with Gus. It's always too short a visit, but I'm glad we are able to see them and get pictures of them with Gus.
