Brotherly Love

I had no idea that adding a second child to our house would be as incredibly awesome as it is. Not only did we want a second child for ourselves to love and adore, but we wanted Gus to have a sibling to grow up with.

When we knew we were matched with Bekka, we started talking to Gus about siblings. We never told him about "Bdub" (the name we called Hugh before he was a Hugh) because we didn't want to get his hopes up and then have to worry if something fell through (note-- we never doubted our relationship or match with Bekka).

My MOMS Club® chapter went to Babyland General Hospital (home of the Cabbage Patch Kids) and I got Gus a baby doll (Frankie Steve). He loved his baby and carried it around and was a good daddy to Frankie. I knew he'd be an excellent big brother.

As soon as Hugh arrived, the love affair between Gus and Hugh began. Here are some pictures that capture their love through the years. Sit back, get comfy... there are a lot of pictures!

He loved "Baby Hewy" from the minute he set his eyes on him

Gus loved to just watch him and help feed him

Hugh would wait at the door and watch for Gus to get off the bus

I feel so blessed to be the mother of these two amazing little boys. They really love each other and I love seeing their relationship grow and develop. Do they always play nicely? Of course not. Are there days when they fight non-stop? Absolutely. However, most of the time, they are in love with each other and see the other as their permanent best friend.

Making Gus a big brother has been one of the best things that has ever happened to our family. I love that they will always have each other, and I pray that God keeps their relationship strong and keeps them connected forever.
