Beach Vacation: New Year's Eve

We woke up on the 31st and were greeted with a gorgeous day. Not only was it sunny, but it was warm too!! We spent the morning relaxing while we waited for Hugh's birth mom and two birth sisters to arrive and when they got to the condo, we had fun exchanging Christmas gifts and catching up.

We decided to head down to the beach and let the kids play in the sand, and I was super excited to take some pictures of everyone. I was excited that my mom came down to the beach too-- this was the only day she was able to head down (her hip and back were hurting too much to head down each day with us).

The surf was really foamy!

I adore her!!

I love love love love love this picture!!!!

My mom was cold

We headed back to the condo and the kids were in desperate need of a bath, so we put the three littles in the tub together. It was so cute.

We enjoyed a beautiful last sunset of 2014 and had pizza for dinner (it was HUGE). We played Cards Against Humanity until midnight and then went outside to watch the fireworks. It was a wonderful day!!

Beach Vacation- December 29th- NC Aquarium

The morning of the 29th, we woke up to a crazy view from our window. There was fog that had come through overnight, and because we were up so high, you couldn't see anything but fog. After a few hours, the beach was at least visible (in the picture above), but it was a cold and dreary day. We decided to make this our day to head to the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher.

When I was teaching 4th grade in North Carolina, we went to the beach on a field trip and visited Fort Fisher, the beach, and the NC Aquarium here (we also visited the battleship in Wilmington). I've been to this aquarium many times, but this time, it felt really small. Maybe it's because we've got memberships to the GA Aquarium, and it's GIGANTIC compared to the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher.

Gus and Hugh had a great time and it was a nice way to get out of the condo and do something fun on a rainy day.

We left the aquarium just as it was starting to rain really hard. While we were back at the condo watching movies, my dad noticed something out in the water. After watching for a bit, we realized there were several whales out there!! I was able to get some pictures and a video, but the video isn't good quality. It was so awesome to watch them playing and splashing in the water!

We watched several movies and had tacos for dinner that were yummy!!
