Day 99

Gus slept all through the night again last night, and then got up around 8:00 (I didn't hear him), so Steve went in and changed him and gave him another bottle. Apparently he went back to sleep. I got up just before ten (yes... it was glorious to sleep until ten) and Gus was just waking up.

We spent the morning watching television and movies and then we put Gus down for his nap. He ended up sleeping for more than two and a half hours!!! I think he's merging two naps into just one. He ends up sleeping all through the  night without waking at all and is getting at least 12 hours, so I can't and won't complain.

Tthis afternoon we were supposed to go to the Triangle Mommies Birthday Bash but when it came down to going, neither of us felt like dragging Gus out there. Maybe if Gus was a little older and could do the crafts and enjoy the bounce thingy, but he would have just been in the stroller. So we went to the Dollar Store instead to get some frames.
We got home and I took some pictures of Gus while the sun was still out and I had some natural light in the livingroom. I took over 200, but here are my favorites:

I decided to play around a bit with the black and white editing, so here are my favorite black and white pictures:

While watching Paranormal Activity 2 I took pictures of Gus. What a freaky movie, but it wasn't as good as the first one. They did tie the two together, and made it so there can (and will) be a Paranormal Activity 3. Of course, I'll have to see it. LOL

Anyway, we had dinner and started to watch Easy A but brought Gus up for bed before we could finish it. We'll have to finish it tomorrow.

Time for bed!!

Day 98

We had a wonderful day today and it's so nice that it's Friday and we'll have the whole weekend with Steve! Today Gus and I stayed home and did nothing- it was great! I was supposed to go to a pj movie playdate this morning but I realized that they'll be watching a movie (Tangled) and Gus cannot sit still for a movie. I figured if all the kids were trying to watch a movie and Gus was wandering around, it'd be kinda annoying for them. And, I didn't want him to just roam around Amie's house. So, we decided to just stay here instead.

We played all morning and I thought Gus would want a nap around 10:30ish, but he kept going. He was good until about noon. I think he's pushing back his naps and merging them into one. I'm not sure at what age they go from two naps to one, but he's been doing one nap a day (mind you, it's a long nap) for a few days now. Not sure what's going on.

Before I brought him up for his nap, I took some pictures of him, I just think he's the cutest thing ever and I love practicing my photography, and he's the perfect subject. My friend Katie gave me a link to a website that explains how to transition from automatic settings to manual settings... I'm eager to try it out this weekend. Anyway, here are some of my favorites from today:

In some of his pictures, Gus looks like a little boy and not a baby. Then, in others, I can still see my baby in the pictures. It's definitely interesting.

I've come to the harsh realization that the time with him as a baby is passing too fast. I can't believe that on Monday he'll be eleven months already. I honestly do not know where the time has gone. I now know what parents mean when they say don't blink. It makes me sad, and I have some regrets... I wish I held him more. I do hold him... don't get me wrong, but I just want the sweet little baby back that I was too quick to put down to feed because my arm hurt. Or when I was at my parents and my mom would nag me to hold him more... they were right. I should have held him more. :(

But alas, I cannot dwell on the past and can only do for the present. I love him so much and I cherish the times that we have together. All too soon I'll be sending him off to school and wondering where the last five years went. It's so easy to get wrapped up in the future and what he can and can't do yet. I'm determined to enjoy the present and really give my baby everything that I have. I don't want anymore regrets.

After Gus's two hour nap, we came down and had lunch. Gus ate a container of his favorite yogurt with fruit and cereal, and then was still hungry so I gave him some baby food. He has HATED it, but I thought I'd try it. He actually had a few bites of the garden veggies with whole wheat pasta, and didn't gag like he used to. Anyway, here are some pictures:

After Gus was done, I decided to give him his first taste of a pickle. I don't think he minded and later tonight, Steve gave him a bite of one and he liked it.

After lunch we went outside for a little bit. I took some pictures of the dogs playing and of the cats:

We came back inside and played for a bit more before Steve got home.

Gus is so smart. He wanted to get to the kitchen, and must have been observing Elphie and the cats get in and out of the livingroom by going under the table next to the couch. I watched him try it himself (and get stuck)...

He was very upset when he was stuck and couldn't get any further. You'd think he would have learned, but he kept trying. We need to put something there to block him from under the table.

After dinner we went on a walk and enjoyed the nice night. The sunset was beautiful, but it was a bit humid for my taste.

When we got home we gave Gus his bath and then it was time for bed. I'm hoping that he'll sleep through the night again tonight and make it a hat trick. Or a turkey. Or... what other sports things happen in threes?

Anyway, it's time for bed. See you tomorrow!!
