Days 147 (Friday) & 148 (Saturday)

I had all intentions of posting yesterday in the morning, and then I thought I'd just wait until Gus went to bed... however that most definitely did not happen. :)

We got up and had a nice morning and then Suzanne came to clean. Gus had breakfast and was being silly...

We watched Chuggington and we read some books and I put my glasses on him and took a picture.

Then it was time for his nap, so we headed upstairs. I had to leave for RDU by 12:15 so that we'd be there by 1:00 to pick up my cousin Jessica. The timing was just about perfect.

We got back to the house and had lunch and then we visited for a while before Steve got home.

After Steve got home we hung out for a little bit and then we went to Mamma Mia's in Apex for dinner. YUMMMMMM... it'd been so long since we had been there and it was so delicious. Gus had cheese ravioli and did a really great job eating dinner! After dinner we headed to Rita's to introduce Jessica to the world's most delicious dessert. She loved it as much as we do, and I was so glad. I would have hated for her to not like it!!

Then we came back home, and drove through the downtown metropolis of Holly Springs (LOL) and then Steve took Gus up for bed, said goodnight to us, and then Jessica and I stayed up talking.

And talking.

And talking.

:D

I honestly don't know where the time went, but I made a comment about how nice it is on the weekends because Steve gets up with Gus and I get to sleep in a little. Then I said, "What time is it?" When Jessica told me to guess, I thought maybe 2:00am. NO. 2:30? NO 3:00?!?!?!?! NO... Holy shit... it was 3:30am!

It's the longest that I've been up in I can't tell you how long. It was so wonderful to sit and talk with Jessica and laugh until I thought I was going to pee my pants (seriously) and then laugh until I had tears in my eyes. :)  I'm so thankful that I've reconnected with her and been able to really get back in touch with her. I forgot how much I missed her (if that makes any sense) and it's God's working that we're reconnected and I'm so thankful.

While I went to bed at 3:30, I was up at 8:30 because Jessica had to be at Crabtree Valley Mall by 9:30 to meet her friend Rob that she's also visiting while in NC.

I think the picture of Gus and Jessica is so cute. She loves him so much and I love seeing him with her and knowing that he's going to have a wonderful relationship with his God Mother. :)

Last night after Gus and Steve went to bed, Jes and I made the ham and cheese casserole and then put it in the fridge so Steve just had to put it in the oven when he got up with Gus. So when I came downstairs at 8:30, breakfast was ready and it was sooooo delicious!  We didn't have a lot of time to chit-chat, and by 9:00 we were loading up the car to head to the mall.

We got to the mall and Rob came with his wife Michelle (I think that's her name... I could be remembering wrong), and we said our goodbyes and gave our hugs to Jessica. We'll see her again when we go back to MI.
We got back to the house around 10:30 and we brought Gus up for a nap, Steve did the bills and I took a nap. I slept until about 1:30 and woke up feeling so much better. :) Though, a lack of sleep at my age feels more and more like a hangover did in my 20s.

I had lunch (left-overs from dinner) and then we watched some tv before we had to get ready to meet Katie at the park for some pictures!

So the park was the perfect place for the pictures. Steve and I wore brown and then we dressed Gus in brown as well. Then he had an outfit change and wore the really cute outfit that his birth mom and her friend gave him back in February. We also took some naked baby pictures that at the time, Steve and Katie didn't seem too sure about, but I was all for it and I'm so glad, because the pictures are priceless!!

Steve took pictures with his iPhone while Katie snapped pictures with her camera. I can't post what she took, but here are a few of the ones that Steve took:

All private parts are blurred...

It started to sprinkle, so we packed up and headed out. Katie sent me the link to the pictures, but I can't save them... she's going to give me a disk of pictures and I'll ask her about sharing them. I do plan on buying some because hers are incredible!

We had Chick-Fil-A for dinner and watched tv. We decided that Saturdays would be our "no rules dinner" day and we will eat in the livingroom and not at the table for this one day during the week. Steve was most excited about it. :)

It's now time for me to head to bed...

Day 146

Oi Vey! What a day!

So it started with Gus getting up around 7:45, which wasn't bad at all. Then he had breakfast and we played for a little while watching Chuggington and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (as you can see in the picture above).

I had thought about going grocery shopping after breakfast, but Gus was rather cranky and I decided to just put him down for a nap early, and then go after he got up. That plan backfired when I put him down and for 45 minutes he was in his room playing, laughing, crying, babbling, and doing everything BUT sleeping. I figured he must not be tired, or he'd sleep. Right?

I got him changed and we headed to Wal-Mart at 11:30. Usually we go and it's around 1 or 2 in the afternoon. We were able to get everything we needed and out of the store by 12:30.
I thought for sure that Gus would be exhausted by 12:30 and would be rubbing his eyes and cranky. He always gets red around his eyes when he's super tired, and I kept looking to see the red, but there was no red and he wasn't rubbing his eyes. SOOOOOO we got home, I put away groceries and then we had lunch. Gus still didn't show any signs of being tired.

Somewhere around 2:00 we headed outside to swim. I figured the heat would wear him out and surely, he'd get sleepy soon. He played in the pool for almost an hour before his eyes got red and he started to rub them. Here are some fun pictures of him enjoying the 95 degree afternoon:

Gus REALLY likes the purple container with the hole in the bottom...

REALLY enjoying the pool

Being flirty while lounging in the pool

Totally lounging... what a life

I got him dried off and then headed inside to change and then finally enjoy the nap that he'd be missing all day. I got him down and he fussed for a little bit, and then it was sweet, golden silence.

FOR 35 MINUTES

Yeah. Forget the two+ hour nap that he NEEDED... he slept for 35 minutes. He refused to go back down, so we played upstairs for a while until Steve got home.

In the meantime, I got an email this morning from a lady named Lisa from AGD. She's the current Alumnae Development Specialist for Area F, and I'll be taking her position June 1st (I've done the Ritual Committee for four years and thought it'd be fun to try something new- and I was assured that this new position wouldn't be too time demanding). So Lisa tells me about herself, and that she's taking over the Director of Alumnae Development (the person above me). She told me that she's going to a wedding tomorrow (out of state) and won't be back for a week, but there's some pressing issues that she needed me to be aware of. I won't bore you with them... but let me just say, I got done reading her email and said out loud, "What the F have I gotten myself into???"

It was too stressful for me to deal with, so I didn't reply. Until Gus's nap.

I sent Lisa an email and basically told her a little about myself and told her that I didn't know the position would require so much... she said she wanted to call me... so she did.

HOLY SHIT.

I'm definitely up for the challenge, but OMG. Talk about some drama and I feel like I don't know what the heck I'm supposed to do. When I told her that, her reply was, "Honey, none of us know what we're doing. We're in it together and we'll figure it out and chart our own course as we go." This is not how I function. The good news is that she's pretty organized and had a crappy mentor, and I think she'll do a great job leading all of us (the DAD team is quite large). My job is basically to help find AGD alumnae who are looking to get involved in some way, and to match their skills with the needs of the sorority. Should be fun.

Anyway... got several more emails from her tonight about conference calls and monthly meetings. The good news is that I'm the Area F ADS and Area F is Michigan and Ohio. Calling all Alpha Gams!!!  :)

I made dinner and then Gulbike came for tutoring tonight. Not sure if I'll be tutoring her on Monday since it's the holiday, but we'll see. We don't have any plans, but I don't want to tutor her at 7pm if there's no school and her mom doesn't have to work. It might be nice to take the day off. She has EOGs that week, so I'm not sure if I'll tutor her or not. She wants to, but her mom is worried about her not getting enough sleep during the week.

Anyway... tomorrow Suzanne will be here to clean and Jessica arrives to stay the night! We're going to Mamma Mia's for dinner and I can't wait! We're going to go to Rita's after for some dessert. Yippie!!
