Day 267

September 24th, 2010

September 24th, 2011

Today we went to the post office so I could mail the pictures of Gus that I ordered. I sent pictures to a lot of people... I think I had more than 15 items. Friends and family should be receiving these items shortly!! I hope you enjoy them!!

We went to Wal-Mart to do our weekly shopping... it wasn't too bad. Then we came home and had lunch and it was time for Gus's nap. After he got up, I put him in his gnome costume so I could get some early Halloween pictures.

I had a coupon for 10 free photo cards from Shutterfly, and I thought I'd take pictures of Gus for the cards. It was more difficult than I expected because he did NOT want to wear his hat. The hat makes the costume, so I took as many as I could and then Steve came down and helped me take more. I posted them all on my photography blog, and on my Google+ account. Here are just a few of my favorites:

I love the face he is making in this picture!!

We had dinner (Gus was in rare form tonight) and dealt with his pickiness...

It was such a challenging day with him that we when put him to bed, Steve and I high-fived each other for surviving the day. It was that rough.

Tomorrow we're going to the RBC Center for the Triangle Heart Walk. We're walking with "Steve and the Pace Makers" through Burt's Bees. Since Steve raised almost $4,000 (yes... ALONE he raised that much), we have access to VIP parking and the VIP tent with food and drinks!! I'm excited!!

I'll be sure to take pictures and I'll post them on tomorrow's blog.

See you then!!

Day 266

September 23rd, 2010

September 23rd, 2011

We had a fun day today! I contacted Ashley (she's Jen's boyfriend Matt's sister-in-law) and asked her if she and Kyleigh wanted to come over and play. Kyleigh is only nine-months, but I thought it'd be fun to get together with Ashely. They came over around noon and Gus was able to play and have lunch and then by 1:15 he was ready for a nap.

Here are some pictures from this morning:

Isn't this the cutest??

After I put Gus down for a nap, I took a TON of cute pictures of Kyleigh. Normally, I'd post them to Facebook, but I'm done with FB. I'm in the process of removing ALL of my pictures (deleting albums) and while I'm not going to remove my account, I'm not going to be posting as much on there. I just think it's bad and I don't like the direction that it's heading.

I think what did it was someone that knows my mom (apparently... I have no clue who the dude is) posted on a picture of my mom and Gus. It freaked me out that a total stranger could see my pictures. Before all the changes, everything was restricted to ONLY FRIENDS and not even friends of friends. Now, it's based on individual pictures and I'd have to go through and make each picture secure. It's just bad and I'm done with the games. I don't NEED Facebook... and I'm ready to just pack up and leave.

Anyway, since I'm not sharing pictures on Facebook, I decided that pictures that I take with my good camera, I'll post on a blog for my photography. No names or anything like that, and no tags... but a place where I can post pictures for friends to see. I'm going to make it private... invite only... so if you'd like to have access to the site, just let me know.

After Steve got home we headed to FV for dinner. Gus had a great time and ate a lot of food!!

We got home and watched Glee from this week. My first reaction (and I said something to Steve about it) was that there's a lot of inappropriate images... like lots of booty shots and more sexual than I remember. Maybe my views are changing and I'm becoming an old geezer (I am about to turn 35 afterall), but I don't know. I don't remember it being so sexual. It was over-the-top to me.

On another subject... have I told you about my addiction to pinterest? It is the coolest website ever and I love seeing things and organizing them for future use and sharing my pins and repins with others! It's basically a visual way to keep/organize/share bookmarks. I love it.

Here are some pictures of Gus from last year:
Gosh-- he was a cutie patootie!!

I remember when I'd have to change him four-five times a day due to the excessive spit-up...

Such a happy boy!

Ahhh... my sweet little angel!!

Okay... going to bed!

Day 265

September 22nd, 2010

September 22nd, 2011

It's funny how we didn't do anything today, but it was full of laughter and fun. Gus slept until 8 this morning, which was so nice. I felt refreshed, and went in to find him in a terrific mood. I decided to record him as soon as I went in, so that you could see his new routine of taking all his "things" out of his crib before leaving.

Isn't he so funny?? He loves his froggy and has started to hug it and kiss it, and will give it to me for me to kiss. He smiles really big when I kiss his froggy and then he wants it back. :-)

We listened to music, read books, and played all morning long. It was rainy and on the cool side, so we didn't go to the park. I was just as happy to stay home and play with Gus. He took a two and a half hour nap around 11:30 and woke up at 2 and was starving.

We had lunch and he kept stuffing as much food as possible into his mouth. He didn't choke, but he certainly wasn't happy until he couldn't fit another bit of food in there!

It's a bit ridiculous right?? I guess it's how he'll learn... but my goodness!

Gus has started to say "here" and "there" today and was trying to mimic Steve when doing the "I've got my eyes on you" point-at-eyes-then-at-person pointy thing. I hope you know what I'm referring to...
Anyway... we do this to Gus and he cracks up laughing. Today he was trying to do it back to us and it was hilarious. He really does make us laugh!!

I finished my October book review for Scholastic-- not really a book that I enjoyed, but it was okay. Then I finished the baby shower gift for Amie (I've got a few weeks before her shower but wanted to get it done) and then I started my module on Diagnostic Reports. My new headphones came today too, so I'm all set.

Tomorrow is Friday... THANK GOODNESS!! I'm ready to sleep in... and get this module out of the way! Is it bad that I get through each one and see it as one less module to do? I just want this to be over already...

So... a year ago... these pictures brought back so many wonderful memories and made me smile. I don't think Gus has changed too much from these... and I can remember thinking about how exciting it was to start solid foods, only to turn around and be so disappointed that it wasn't going as planned. Gus wasn't eating them and I freaked out that he'd never eat like a "normal" child. I laugh because today he shoved as much food into his mouth... and obviously has no eating issues (well, except for maybe putting too much food into his mouth at once). Parenthood isn't easy, and I wonder if I'll always second-guess things.

Did I tell you about the girl that I met yesterday? She had an 18-month-old daughter (with a HUGE head BTW) who wasn't speaking AT ALL. I mean, not even saying a word here or there. She was not saying mama or dada... and the mom wasn't worried in the least. She said, "My husband was a late-talker so we just figure she'll be like him." She also has a four-year-old, and he's not talking. She said his doctors have told her to watch for signs of Autism, but she wasn't worried. I was shocked... I guess on one end of the spectrum there's me, worried about everything, and then the other end, is her, not worried at all. I need to be more towards the middle (I'm getting better)... but man alive.
This just cracked me up

Awwww tummy time

So cute

Still the #1 fan of daddy

See you tomorrow!
