Music: Annoying bird outside my window

Mood: Exhausted

This weekend was so much fun! We went down to Dayton Friday night. We went straight to the fraternity house and there were a TON of people standing outside drinking and talking. One group was playing beer pong while the rest were just talking. Mitch and Jess were there when we showed up and we went over and said hi to Jess. Mitch has a handlebar mustache now and looked like a trucker. We haven't seen them since January and I honestly thought it was fake... but it wasn't.

We stayed at the house for about three hours or so and it was nice to see so many people that knew Steve. They call him "Chunk" and it was very strange to have everyone calling him "Chunk" instead of "Steve" or "Walker." I got to see the inside of the house (very gross) and the plaque with Steve's name on it for Best Brother. I had to use the bathroom and had to pee in the bathroom that wasn't meant for a female to use (it was soooooo gross).
We left around 11:30 and hit the ghetto Taco Bell and then went to the hotel and checked in. It was a nice room... very comfy bed and they gave us music to listen to at bedtime (a sound cd). I slept like a baby.
We slept in on Saturday. Eventually we got up and got ready and drove over to the house for a bbq. Steve ordered Donnato's pizza for me (it was sooo good) and told everyone that I had never had Donnato's pizza. It was s good thing we ordered ourselves a pizza because they were supposed to have food from 11-2 and they didn't get anything really started until 1:30.
We watched everyone play volleyball and then we walked over to the bookstore. I got a new book (Something Borrowed by Emily Giffen) and a hoodie and then Steve got some t-shirts and a magnet and two pint glasses. He got 10% off for being a UD alum. We walked back to the house and stayed for a bit... I got REALLY sunburned and ended up getting a blister on the ball of each foot from my sandals.
We went back to the hotel and I took a nap while Steve showered and played on the internet. I got up and showered and then it was time to head downstairs for the formal. We got there and there was a HUGE line for the drinks (open bar one hour before and one hour after dinner). We got our seats and then got back in line for more drinks.
Dinner was good but made us both very ill. We headed back to the room and laid down to try and get comfortable. We both used our own bathroom (smile) and then headed back to the ballroom. I made some Raspberry Pucker and lemonade (so very good) and took it downstairs with me.
We went to bed around 12:00 or so and then got up at 9 this morning. We went to the union and had breakfast (a buffet sponsored by EDT) and then we walked around campus.

I had to use the bathroom and we headed into the engineering building (where Steve spent all his time in college) and while I was in the bathroom a professor talked to Steve. He remembered Steve and they chatted for a bit. I came out and Steve told me that he was the guy that we had JUST seen on the History channel (it was very cool). It made the whole weekend!!
Before heading back home to Michigan we went back to the house and Steve bought a t-shirt (Ghetto-Fest) and then we came home.
I am tired and ready to go bed.
Until next time...

Music: "Around the World"-ATC
Mood: Exhausted

Today has been an absolutely exhausting day. It started with getting very little sleep and then waking up at 7am to get ready for IRD. Michelle and Diana got here around 8:45 and then Gen came at 9am. We drove to pick up Cheryl and then were on our way by 9:20am.

We got to Frankenmuth around 10:40 (not early enough for my taste... we didn't even get good seats because we weren't there early enough). Sara and Holly were supposed to come but they never made it.

I have to say, IRD is one of my most favorite things about being an AGD. I love seeing everyone from around the state and joining together and meeting new people. I've been to many IRDs in my time as an Alpha Gam and I can honestly say that today was the worst IRD that I've ever attended.

The event was scheduled to start at 11am. We got there and were greeted by a very rude woman at the registration table. They had asked for everyone to bring toiletries for a women's shelter. Gen and I brought some and when we asked where they went the woman was so very rude about it.

We got inside and it was PACKED. There was no where to sit and we had to search all over to find two seats. The event started with grace (I really need to learn it) and then they started serving lunch. Being at Frankenmuth where they're famous for their chicken, that's what we had for lunch. Throughout lunch they did the raffle (the prizes were so janky) and then after lunch they did chaper roll. This usually takes about 20 minutes or so... not today. The lady did it all in like 5 minutes (max). Someone even commented about how fast she did it.

They gave away the collegiate awards (senior with highest cumulative GPA) and then the alumnae awards (they asked all members wearing the arc of any kind to stand)... that was it. They didn't even do announcements... which is like the best part because you get to hear about what everyone is doing.

It was a disaster. We were in the car and back on the road before 1:00. Not even a two hour event. We spent more time in the car getting there than we did at the actual event. Very disappointing.

Anyway, I am totally exhausted. We just finished watching The Prestigue. It was soooo good!! Definitely worth renting if you're looking for something good to watch. We got our new Netflix movies today. We also have Bad News Bears (which I got because Scott said it was so good) and then The Holiday. I am excited to watch that one.

I have some school stuff to do tomorrow (write my newsletter and then get my Mini Society stuff ready). Other than that I intend on relaxing and enjoying my last day of vacation. The next vacation that I get will be Memorial Day weekend... and then when I come back to school I'll only have eight and a half school days before summer break!!!

Until next time...

Music: "My Name is Jonas"--Weezer
Mood: Sick to my stomach :(

I made it to Spring Break!! I needed a vacation like you wouldn't believe. What's weird is that I really really love my class this year. They're such a fantastic group of kids. I am really going to miss them!!

So... some things have changed since I last wrote. The biggest is that Scott didn't get married. In fact, according to him, it's not even an option anymore. They decided last minute (way to make everyone stress out) that it wasn't worth it and he'd just work somewhere that has good insurance. I don't know too many other details, but the good news is that they're not married. I do wonder if they'll just go and do it and not tell anyone, considering how much shit he got about it... but at this point he said it's not an option that he's considering.

I had a half day on Thursday (April 5th) and had a 1:00 appointment at Dr. Mann's (dentist). He filled more cavities... and my dental insurance is now maxed until July 1st. So... good news and bad news. Good news is that I don't have to go back until July. Bad news... I still have other things that I need to get done and I have to wait until July to do it.

Strangely enough... I'm actually getting more and more comfortable about going to the dentist. I never thought I'd say that, but I really trust him and I love his staff. They're outstanding and I guess if I have to go, better to go somewhere that I like than somewhere that scares me right?

Thursday Aimee came over with Lucas and then we went to the ZA Alumni Potluck. The only alums present were me, Aimee, Diana (still in college), Julia (just graduated), and Andrea (still in college). Pretty much Aimee and I were the only two that have been out of ZA for a while. It was fun though... we played games and had dinner and dessert. I got to see the Greek Week Talent Show dance and it was very cute!! We sat with Michelle and Megan and it was fun.

Sunday was Easter. We had Nick, Natalie, Alex and Jack over and then Mary Breeding and Francine came over too. Scott, mom and dad were also there. We had our traditional ham (we've made the same ham since we started dating back in 2004) and baked beans, potato salad, rolls, taco salad, green salad and then mom made this super tasty brownie dessert thing.

I updated my resume yesterday. I think it looks good. You never know when you might need it and I hadn't updated it for quite some time, so now it's all current and everything.

I changed my website. It now has a cute frog theme (appropriate for me since my whole classroom has a frog theme) and it's cute!! I promised Steve that I wouldn't change it again for a while. I think I'll keep this one for a long time.

I found out last week that I am going to be on the Ritual Committee for Alpha Gamma Delta. I applied to be apart of the VST (Volunteer Service Team) and I had three committees that I wanted to join. I got an email saying that IHQ was in the final stages of contacting committee members and all names would be posted on the website by April 2nd. Well... no one contacted me so I assumed that I wasn't selected (there are only 4 spots per committee and it's very difficult to get onto a committee). So last week Steve told me that some lady from Alabama from AGD called me about some team thing (VST). I called her and she asked if I still wanted to be on the VST. I was so excited I was literally jumping around the kitchen.

This Saturday we've got IRD at Frankenmuth. I'm excited. I love IRD!! Then next weekend we're going to UD for Steve's fraternity's 40th Anniversary weekend. We're going to their formal (hahaha) and then they've got volleyball and all kinds of other events planned for Friday-Sunday.

I've got no plans for this spring break. I've just been watching movies and playing around online. On Friday my mom and I are going to Steve's work to meet him for Thai (yummy)... but other than that I have no plans. I told Aimee I could come over tomorrow and hang with her and Lucas... we'll see what she says.

Until next time...

Song: "Into the Ocean"- Blue October
Mood: Ho-Hum

Today is Sunday... we slept in and it was fantastic. I actually slept in yesterday and today. I was sorta shocked that I was able to sleep past 7:30am... usually on the weekend (when I can actually sleep in) I wake up super early. Not this weekend though!

Last time I posted was last Saturday. From then to now there have been a few changes... not many, but a few worth mentioning.

I found out that I'm safe in 5th grade. There are going to be some changes in the fall (Granholm cut $34 per-pupil) but I'm going to still be teaching 5th grade (99% certain at this point). They're going to be cutting various sections of the different grades, and next year I'll most likely have more than 30 students in my class... but I was told that I'll have a parapro in my room again. I'm hoping that I get to work with Charlotte again.

I also found out that one of my least-favorite people that I work with will most-likely be leaving my building. She doesn't have a position to fill so she'll be moving to another building that has an opening. The good news is that if she ever wants to come back to my building, she will have to interview, and I can pretty much guarntee that NO ONE will hire her back into my building.

On Sunday we went to Aimee and Matt's to see Lucas. He's so tiny and cute! It definitely makes me eager to start a family, but all in due-time. It was good to see Aimee... she looks great! You can't even tell that she was pregnant.

My Aunt had a birthday on Monday and then my dad turned 60 on Tuesday. He wasn't happy about it. We went to Outback last night with Scott and Fr. Terry to celebrate dad's birthday. I had fun... but we were crammed into a booth (6 people in one booth). Dinner and dessert was super tasty... :)

Thursday I had parent-teacher conferences for the spring. They went really well. I only had one no-show. I was able to come home at 7 instead of staying until 7:30 as I was told.

Friday we had a staff development day... it was AWFUL!!! It ranks up there with the Craft training that we had last year. This was just as bad... she was talking to us about Gifted Students in the regular education classroom. Yeah yeah yeah... that's great when you only have 20-25 kids but next year we're going to have 30+ kids... I'll be lucky to manage them and accomodate all of them, but to add any gifted kids on top of that... yeah right.

So that takes us to now. Did I mention that I got my hair done on Wednesday? I went to the person that does like a TON of people in my school. Her name is Jamie and she was awesome! My hair looks so cute!! She told me about some different products that I can use (she has curly hair too) and I went online last night and ordered some stuff. The cool thing is that the website that I got my Catwalk products from saves 40% off the suggested retail price. I got some great products and it wasn't too expensive!!

I got another letter from one of my soldiers. It was such a surprise to get it! He's one of the guys that we sent a package to. Anyway-- it got me remotivated and over spring break we're going to send out some more.

So I found out last night that Scott is getting married on Sunday. One week from today... however, they're not exchanging rings... she's not taking his last name... they're not going to live together. He views it as a business transaction. Anyway, they're getting married at the JP and Steve and I are going. It churns my stomach to actually think of this happening... but it's out of my control and there's nothing I can do or say about it.

Alright... until next time!

Song: "Put Your Records On"- Corinne Bailey Rae
Mood: Happy

The last time I wrote it was almost two weeks ago. I do appologize for not posting sooner. I do have a valid reason though...

On Tuesday, March 6th (our 3rd anniversary of our first date) I was walking (at lunchtime) to the back wall in my room to staple someone's paper to the back wall. As I was walking past one of the desks, my right pant leg got caught on the desk (there's a missing piece on the desk and gives it a sharp edge) and I ended up ripping my favorite jeans and tripping and falling flat on my face.

I immediately felt like I was going to pass out. Charlotte and Michelle had just walked in from taking the kids to lunch and they asked if I was okay. I explained what happened and Charlotte called Kitty (school nurse) and I sat down and elevated my foot. This is the same ankle that I had surgery on back when I was 15. The smallest thing makes me sprain it, so it wasn't the first time since I was 15 that I've hurt it.

Kitty came down with some ice and a wrap and wrapped up my ankle. It was throbbing and really hurt. Michelle called Daryl's office to ask if they could get me in, they said 3pm was the soonest, so she made the appointment for me. Then she called Steve and he said that he'd be leaving work shortly to come home.

Michelle drove me home and I left Cleveland back at school. Steve and I went to Daryl's and he ended up giving me a shot (Cortozone) that hurt really bad... and then he wrapped my ankle in a cast. We stopped on the way home to get some crutches. Michelle brought my car to me (which was very nice of her) and then she said she'd pick me up to take me to school.

I was on crutches from Tuesday through Sunday. I wasn't able to drive all week. We had a field trip with our reading buddies on Thursday (we went bowling) and Michelle was allowed to drive me in her car (I couldn't get on the bus). When she brought me home on Thursday, Steve said that he was going to work from home on Friday. I told Michelle that I wasn't going to go to work on Friday and said that she could have the day off if she wanted.

On Friday Steve and I met Michelle and her roommate Jenn at O'Charlie's for lunch. It was sooooo good! Michelle came back home with us and we watched the Patriot and just talked. Her roommate came and got her after we were done watching the movie.

We had Main Dish on the 10th. I wasn't able to do much, as I was on crutches. So I finished my book (Dear John by Nicholas Sparks) and just relaxed on the couch while Steve made everything. Saturday night we just hung out at home and watched some movies.

This last week was more of the same as last week. Monday and Tuesday was beautiful... in the 70's on Monday and in the 60's on Tuesday. It was a big tease though... it was back to cold and snow on Wedensday and Thursday.

Wednesday I went back to Daryl's and he took my cast off and I am walking normal again. My ankle still kind of hurts though. I think maybe after a week it'll start to feel better.

Yesterday there was a ton of drama at work. There are some MAJOR changes coming for the next year... and I'm a little anxious to see what happens. They said that there's a chance that many people will be displaced... and laid-off. I pray that I'm not going to have to worry about it... I've got 6.5 years of senority so hopefully it'll keep me safe. There's rumors that they're closing one of the schools... and those kids and teachers will be randomly placed throughout the district. The teachers all have more senority than me... so who knows what's going to happen.

Dave called me last night. We talked for about 45 minutes or so, and it was nice to chat with him. He's doing detective stuff right now (which I think is totally cool) and he's hoping to move to Gangs soon. I think it's scary that he's going to work on the gang unit, but he said he thinks it's going to be fun and he's really excited about it. I don't think I could do his job.

Emily at work is pregnant. So Mike's wife Jodi is pregnant (due in July)... Kylie is pregnant (due in August)... and now Emily is pregnant (due in November). That's 3/4 members of my 5th grade team. That means that if I get pregnant (and hopefully it'll happen in the next few months)... all of the 5th grade team will be having babies.

Today is St. Patty's Day. We're going to the Mitchell's for a bit today. I guess we're going to be the only people there... which does not make for a lot of fun. We haven't been to their place in a while so we need to just go. Ned can't come with us (which bugs me) so we are not staying the night.

I need to go shower and start getting ready to leave. Until next time...
