Week 6: My Nephew Eamon

This week I decided to send a letter to my nephew Eamon. He's almost nine-years-old (**CORRECTION... HE IS ALMOST EIGHT!!!!!) and such a funny boy. He lives in Arizona and I'm lucky if I get to see him once a year. This past year (2010) I got to see him in Michigan while there for Gus and then had the double fortune of having him come to NC to visit for almost a week!

Eamon is so special to me. He's my first nephew and I can remember exactly where I was when my oldest brother called me to tell me that he was going to be a daddy. I was in Aimee and Amy's livingroom and was soooo excited!!  I was in the process of going through my divorce and I can vividly remember talking to my ex and telling him about the baby and thinking, "You'll never get to know this wonderful little baby." It made me a little sad, but I hoped that there'd be an Uncle so-and-so someday, to go with Aunt Cathy.  :)

When Eamon was born (end of April), I was on a cruise with Amy and Krissy and we had just arrived in Key West, FL and were downtown shopping. I was just over-the-top ecstatic when I found out that E was born.

When I looked at the pictures of him, I cried. I remember being so proud of my brother and so happy for him and his wife H. They made the most perfect little baby. The first time I saw E in person I couldn't believe how teeny-tiny he was. I can remember thinking, "Okay... he's cool but what does he do?" I was certain that I was not ready to be a parent yet.

I can't believe he's almost eight. Crazy how time flies! He is such a smart kid, and so clever. He is as individual as children come and he's so comfortable in his own skin. I'm so proud of the boy that he is and certain that he'll be one heck of a young man.

My brother and SIL have done an outstanding job of raising him, and I always love to see the pictures of him and his sister Aine, and his little brother Benton on my SIL's blog. My nephews and nieces really do light up my life.

This July, Eamon got to meet Gus and I have the cutest picture of him holding Gus.
In this picture, Gus was one day shy of being two-months-old.

The paper that I used for Eamon's letter is very special. It's Gumby "fold and mail" stationery. I only use it for special occasions, and I just thought it was perfect for his letter. I included a picture of me and Gus for him to have as well. I hope he likes it!

Maybe he'll write me back and we can write back and forth throughout the year!

Why did I think he and Alex were only months apart? So he was 2003 then right? So glad you told me!! His letter says something about him turning 9... just explain to him that I have baby-brain due to Gus zapping my sleep and draining me of brain-power!!
