Fifty Shades of Grey

It's been QUITE some time since I found a book that has sucked me in like this one has. I read the first book in the series in a day. I literally could not put the book down. 

I had been hearing (and seeing FB posts) a lot of Fifty Shades of Grey from friends.  There was a lot of hype and I just wasn't sure about it. I decided to give in and see what all the hype was about-- I am so glad I did.

This book is SO good. There's a lot (and I mean a LOT) of sex and it's pretty detailed. It verges on porn I suppose, but I call it erotica. I don't get embarrassed easily over stuff like that, so it wasn't bothersome to me. I do know many people who couldn't finish the first book because there was just too much for them to handle. Not the case for me.

I absolutely love the plot of this book. There are numerous emails exchanged between the two main characters and I found myself grinning, giggling, and laughing out loud as I read them (they aren't dirty). The book is written in a way that I can totally relate to it. The main character has a lot of internal dialogue, and says things like, "Holy fuck" a lot. It makes me chuckle, because I've been known to say those words quite frequently (out loud AND in my head). It's so good.

I had a hard time reading about Christian Grey and not picturing his voice sounding like Derek on Smash (not sure why-- Derek's voice is clearly a British accent and Mr. Grey is not British), and in my head, I was picturing Ryan Gosling the WHOLE TIME.

If you haven't read this book yet and are somewhat curious about it, I highly encourage you to read it. You might not like it if you're a bit on the prudish side, but if you're not a prude, more than likely, you'll absolutely LOVE it. 

I loved the Twilight series. I was sucked into it and fell in love with Edward's character-- and always felt that Bella was lame-o and helpless. I hated the movies, mainly because I hate Kristen Stewart and find her to be the worst actress ever... however, I really enjoyed the books. After reading Fifty Shades of Grey, I have a new favorite series. This book is incredible, charming, funny, sexy, and fun. I haven't enjoyed a book this much in a really long time!!
