Yesterday was a CRAZY busy day for us!!! We got up and had breakfast and then walked over to Wendy's for a MOMS Club playdate. There were A LOT of kids there!!! There was one boy that actually pushed Gus down (he was at least three or four) and then when he didn't think anyone was looking, he kicked him in the stomach. I totally yelled at the kid to not kick my son, and went over to see what was the deal. The kid was mad that Gus had a sword that he wanted. To make it worse, the mom was right there and didn't say or do anything about it. I grabbed Gus and said, "Let's move you over here (away from the boy) so you can play with this stuff over here..." the mom then said, "Thanks." AS IF... I couldn't even believe that she was thanking me for moving Gus. Like he did anything wrong. Anyway... that was the fun drama from the morning.
We left so that Gus could come home and nap and then when he woke up, we went to lunch at All-Aboard Pizza. Gus was a squirmy-wormy and did NOT want to stay seated to eat. He ended up turning himself around in the highchair and ate backwards. He had an entire piece of pizza (they are BIG slices) and then we came home. Wendy wanted Gus to open their gift, so she brought it over and he opened his first birthday gift!
They got him the water table that he wanted!! I was so excited because I knew exactly where we could put it and that Gus would just love it.
Wendy put the table together with help from Kaitlyn and then the three kids played while Wendy and I talked. It is such a great gift!!
Then Wendy and the girls left because Jen was on her way over to babysit for us. We went to see Hair at the DPAC (Durham Performing Arts Center) and I LOVED IT!!!!!
We met Will and Adri at Backyard BBQ in Durham for some dinner. It was absolutely delicious and Steve and I both had ribs with mac-n-cheese and then I had potatoes with stew and he had okra. We both tried the pineapple lemonade and overall we were VERY impressed with the meal. The place was on Man Vs Food so we wanted to go and try it! We were not disappointed!!
From there, we headed to the DPAC for opening night of Hair. I wasn't sure what it was about or if I'd like it, but I LOVED it! It's my new favorite musical. I HIGHLY recommend it to everyone and promise that you won't be disappointed. Steve even loved it!

It was such a wonderful night. Not only was Gus taken care of by Jen and Matt, but we were surrounded by Will and Adri and had a great night of laughing, and just really enjoying ourselves. It was the first time in a year that we've gone out with friends without Gus, and one of the few times that we've left Gus at night for something. It was really enjoyable and we talked about how a year ago we were in the car, freaking out and on our way to MI for Gus's birth.
It's simply amazing how things change in a year. We are so blessed and so lucky to have our health, our home, our "things" and our little Gus. He makes everything worthwhile and makes each day a new day to look forward to!!
